Archival historyThomas Goldie Scot MD LRCSEd 1841 was born in Madras in 1820. He gained his MD at the University of Edinburgh in 1841, his thesis being “On apoplexy, its varieties, diagnosis and treatment” and gained his Licentiateship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh the same year. He had a notable career - Army Surgeon (Hon. Dep. Insp. Gen Army); Assistant Surgeon (13th Foot) 1841; Surgeon 1853; Surgeon Major 1861 then retired in 1867, having served in Crimea 1854 and Indian Mutiny 1857. The collections include correspondence, two Goldie Scot medals and a small collection of his instruments.
