TitleShoulder with a deformity of the tendon of the bicep
DescriptionShoulder with a deformity of the tendon of the bicep
The preparation is of a right shoulder joint, laid open, showing deformity of the long tendon of the biceps muscle.
From an elderly dissecting-room subject in whom the tendon, though small, could be easily traced proximally to its junction with the synovial capsule where it became adherent to the margins of the intertubercular sulcus. It then became "reduced to a few fibrous and cellular-looking threads which could be traced with difficulty and were incorporated with the articular capsule."
The tendon becomes progressively attenuated as it reaches the superior end of the intertubercular sulcus where it is adherent and a few tendinous fibres, evidently its continuation, have been isolated by dissection from the synovial surface.
