DescriptionGlass hone, with shell hose rigid strop, used for sharpening microtome blades. Glass hone comes in a wooden hinged box, which has a plaque on the lid reading 'Cambridge instrument Co. Ltd, London & Cambridge'. The glass hone sits on a ledge within the box, next to a compartment containing three small glass bottles. Underneath the hone is a compartment containing a microtome blade and a straight razor with a brown plastic handle. The strop consists of a strip of thick leather which is attached to a thick wooden base, which is hollowed at the top underneath the leather. Stamped on the base is 'Biber'.
