TitleDrawing of a man
DescriptionPencil drawing from a plaster of paris cast in the Museum of Ecole de Medicine, Paris. Handwritten on the reverse of the picture:
"This outline was drawn from a plaster of paris cast in the Museum of Ecole de Medicine, Paris. The history of the man was somewhat remarkable, from his singular figure he travelled over most of Europe showing himself as a Public Spectacle. He enjoyed good health, walked about and his conversation was very interesting so the his company was cultivated by the higher classees of people. He spoke fluently the German, English and French languages the latter was his native.
Being involved in debt and perhaps for some other reasons he was sent to the Bapeter [?] where he died, but during that time of his imprisonement he was by the influence of some Private Gentleman in Paris often allowed to dine abroad [?]. He always showed a partiality to the female sex and was twice unfortunate in his amours.
His skeleton is preserved in the Museum. The Numeri are interely [sic] wanting and also the Thigh-Bones, being supplied by ligamentous chords forming the medium of attachment between the Trunk & Extremeties. The Zigomias are also found wanting but nothing more unatural [sic] is remarked.
