They are mid-cavity forceps, used during child birth. Mid forceps are used when the baby's head is engaged, but is sitting higher than 2cm below the ischial spines of the pelvis.
The handle for the handle for the forceps is added when a great deal of traction is required. It allows for the more traction without hindering the opening and closing of the forceps by the operator.
On the inside of one the handles of the forceps it has the numbr 92 engraved, as is the handle.
