TitleBONE, tibia, right
DescriptionPainting of a bone, tibia, from a male aged 31 years. When aged 17 years sailing in the Baltic he fell on deck with his leg doubled under him. He fell again when in Riga and was conveyed to the hospital where he was told the bones below the knee were splintered. A year afterwards a swelling developed with a sinus becoming permanent after the swelling was incised. As the swelling increased in size and it began to discharge, he fitted a wood and tow plug to assist washing out the cavity and preventing the discharge. He eventually agreed to have the leg amputated.
