DescriptionObstetric hook which has a sharp inner blade used as a destructive instrument. The instrument is made by Simpson, Edinburgh. The ebony handle has finger notches on one side and cross hatching on the inside for good grip.
The hook would most likely have been used to help deliver a foetus after death to prevent infection.
