From a female aged 50 years in whom the tumour seemed definitely encapsuled and was adherent at one part to the fascial sheath of the submandibular salivary gland.
The tumour is lobular on its surface and on section shows a definite but thin capsule and also a fleshy parenchyma with numerous small areas of fairly uniform size but different degrees of translucency and density. Microscopic examination shows the structure of a “mixed” tumour of the salivary-gland type containing cartilage, epithelial acinar formation and fibrous tissue, and there is some evidence of malignant epithelial changes.
