TitleStomach, everted, showing post mortem digestion.
DescriptionStomach, everted, showing post mortem digestion.
From a male aged 11 months in whom gastro-enteritis appeared on the fifth day after his being weaned and continued with varying severity until his death thirty days later. On post mortem examination the intestinal walls were thin and the intestines contained a minimum of faecal matter. The condition of the stomach was only observable from the mucous surface and the serous coat which was intact over the affected area ruptured slightly in the process of examination. (J. Gairdner. Trans. medico-chir. soc. Edinburgh. 1826. II. 331.)
Over a small area in the posterior wall towards the fundus only the translucent serous coat remains.
