DescriptionThe right eye and contents of the eye, showing an angeioendothelioma of the optic sheath.
From a female aged 13 years, who had proptosis of the right eye which had progessed over 3 months. This is where the eye is abnormally displaced or moved. She had apparently been struck on the right eye with a tennis ball 1 month before the proprosis appeared.
The tumour surrounds the optic nerve which appears as an opaque disc in the centre of a pink gelatinous substance. Microscopic examination shows that the tumour lies between the dural sheath of the optic nerve and the nerve itself.
