From a nullipara aged 62 years who had complained of dysphagia during six months. The Wassermann blood reaction was definitely negative. The tumour was excised by a left cervical incision. No lymph vascular involvement was evident. A proximal ring of the oesophagus was excised with the tumour and the distal portion of the oesophagus was stitched to the skin at the lower angle of the wound. She made a satisfactory recovery.
An oval part of the posterior wall of the oral and laryngeal portions of the pharyngeal mucosa is irregular, hypertrophic and nodulated. Microscopic examination shows the structure of a squamous-cell carcinoma.
