The pharynx laid open posteriorly with the larynx and portion of the tongue
From a female aged 40 years who had recurrent dyspnoea(difficulty breathing) and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) during two years and died suddenly from oedema glottidis.
The right pharyngopalatine arch is ulcerated and nodular and ulceration extends into the right vallecula and on to the right side of the epiglottis and over the right arytaenoid cartilage. The epiglottis is swollen and oedematous and the rima glottidis is much restricted in lumen. The corniculate and cuneiform tubercles are indistinguishable
