TitleUterus showing adenocarcinoma and fibromyomata
DescriptionUterus. Posterior half of a coronal section of the, showing adenocarcinoma and fibromyomata.
Removed by hysterectomy from an adult female in whom the presence of fibromyomata had been known during fifteen years. The carcinoma was of uncertain duration, and its presence had been verified by curetting. Seven days after hysterectomy an embolus in one of the gastric vessels produced ulceration which caused fatal haematemesis.
The uterus is much enlarged and its surface nodular from the presence of intramural fibromyomata. The uterine cavity is the seat of malignant ulceration which has extended from the distal segment to the fundus on the right side, and is invading the uterine musculature on the left. Microscopic examination shows the endometrial affection to be an adenocarcinoma.
