DescriptionSuprarenal gland, showing tuberculosis.
From a dissecting-room subject. The suprarenal gland is considerably enlarged, with a long diameter of 80 mm. It has a smooth surface somewhat adherent to its capsule. The cut surface consists mainly of greyish-white, firm, structureless material, interspersed with small areas of a somewhat gelatinous appearance. The microscopic appearance is that of tuberculosis, with complete necrosis of the tissue except at the periphery, where tubercle follicles with giant-cells are present.
