DescriptionDissecting aneurysm in the arch of the aorta
The specimen consists of the heart and the arch of aorta and the origin of the innominate artery. In the arch of the aorta the intimal layer has been separated from the outer media and adventitia by blood clot which is shown to extend beyond the origin of the innominate artery. The condition is a dissecting aneurysm of the arch of the aorta and this is a very typical site for it to occur.
