TitleA lipoma of the pleura
DescriptionA lipoma of the pleura. A lipoma is a benign fatty tumour, which can develop anywhere on the body where there are fat cells. This one is on the membranes which line the lungs
The preparation is of the pleura, with portions of the fourth and fifth left ribs, which are mounted vertically in the jar.
From an insane female aged 53 years who died of cerebral haemorrhage. The tumour had produced a corresponding depression in the lung but was not adherent to it, and gave rise to no inconvenience during life. The tumour is of the costal pleura, ovoid, and slightly flattened and shows lobulation.
Microscopic examination showed the structure of a lipoma.
