TitleBrain showing destruction of the thalamus by a cavitating tuberculoma
DescriptionBrain showing destruction of the thalamus by a cavitating tuberculoma
From a young child
Consists of a parasagittal section passing through the medulla, pons, cerebellum, thalamus, corpus callosum and overlying cortex. the thalamus shows a substantial area of central destruction by a necrotising and cavitating tuberculoma. A second focus of more 'solid' appearance is also present, involving the cortex immediately above the anterior thalamus. The appearances of the leptomeninges do not suggest a marked degree of tuberculous meningitis but some degree of the latter must inevitably be associated
