DescriptionMandible with oral portion of maxillae injected of a child aged about 20 months, from which the labial surface of the alveolar processes of the maxillae and mandible have been removed to show the deciduous teeth in process of eruption.
In the maxillae the incisors and first molars have fully, and the right canine partly erupted. Deep to the roots of the incisor teeth in the maxillae the crown of the permanent central incisor is in process of formation and superior to the root of each canine tooth the crown of the lateral incisor is seen in a less advanced stage of development. In the mandible the four incisors have erupted and the first molars are making their way through the gum. Deep to the roots of the deciduous incisor and canine teeth the crowns of the corresponding permanent teeth are embedded in the bone, the right central incisor having been removed to show more clearly the subjacent permanent crown.
