DescriptionBox respirator gas mask designed by Charles Cathcart for use in the trenches of WWI.
Air was drawn in through the container which was partially filled with charcoal and lime and inhaled by tube abd mouth-piece (now perished). The pattern was submitted to the War Office and while not officially adopted, it possibly influenced the designs which were under study.
