DescriptionAn Indian oculist's couching needle consisting of a steel blade and wooden handle. The patient is put in a chair. A section is made in the lower part of the cornea corresponding to 6 o'clock. The point of the instrument is introduced and thrust upwards ubtil it apporoximates 12 o'clock. The handle of the instrument is then raised with the effect that (1) the iris is torn (2) the lens is dislocated into the vitreous.
