TitleStricture of the urethra
DescriptionPortion of the right hlf of a urinary bladder and prostate with the pubes and the penis incised inferiorly along the corpus cavernosum urethrae showing stricture of the urethra.
From an aged male who had occasional retention related to the passage of prostatic concretions and ultimately a perinaeal tumour from extravasation of urine. A catheter evacuated pus previous to the escape of urine. The perina.eal abscess was incised and death occurred four days later. A slough involved part of the scrotum and the perinaeal abscess contained many prostatic concretions. (C. Bell. “Treatise on diseases of the urethra” etc. London. 1820. 281.)
The stricture is of the bulbous portion where an abscess has formed at the inferior pubic ligament. The prostate is enlarged and its patent ducts contain concretions. A white glass rod at the bulbous urethra indicates a false passage.
