The tumour is of an irregular ovoid shape and measures approximately 50 mm. in its long axis. The surface has a smoothly nodular appearance whilst the cut surface is uniformly pale and homogeneous in character. Microscopically the tumour is a salivary gland adenoma - a mixed tumour comparable to the mixed tumour of the parotid. It is largely parenchymatous and glanduliform in character with a well developed fibrous stroma which shows some myxomatous degeneration. There is no histological evidence of malignancy.
