DescriptionWhite cardboard box containing a metal mouth gag in several parts. A photograph on the box lid demonstrates how the gag is designed to be used, and is presented as an alternative to a cofferdam (a rubber sheet to isolate individual teeth or areas of the mouth). The main body of the instrument is a straight shaft with a spring, which is adjusted using a butterfly screw. Attached to this is a slightly curved rounded plate, which would sit under the patients chin/ Within the box are 5 other attachements which would be affixed the the upper section of the device and then inserted into the mouth. Four of these are split into two sections, each flattened and rounded with one thinner piece, and the fifth is a solid piece which curves into a shape to sit over the front molars on each side and then on top of the tongue. Within the box is the original pamphlet which describes instructions for use.
