DescriptionTwo lithotomy sounds, both of which are made by 'Wood, Manchester' and have this engraced onto the handle. The longer sound has the size '10' on the handle, while the smaller has '6'. Both have the museum number engraved onto the opposite side of the handle. A lithotomy sound is a type of metal probe, it was inserted into the bladder via the urethra to determine whether a bladder stone was present.
