Object numberGC.11107
TitleLeft shoulder joint showing an old subcoracoid dislocation
DescriptionShoulder joint, left, showing old unreduced subcoracoid dislocation
From an adult in whom the right shoulder joint was somewhat similarly affected in a bilateral injury.
The anterior half of the glenoid cavity has been replaced by a smooth articular surface directed anteriorly. An articular area has been formed by the head of the humerus on the under surface of the root of the coracoid process. The head of the humerus is deformed following fracture and is irregular and flat where it lies in contact with the coracoid. A spur of bone projects posteriorly from the anatomical neck of the humerus to overlie the posterior hail’ of the glenoid cavity. The axillary border of the scapula is irregular from a fracture which passes obliquely across the infraspinatous fossa towards the root of the spine of the scapula. The acromion process shows a line of junction between its lateral epiphysis and the scapular spine.
