The preparation is the bones of a left elbow
From an adult male the subject of a compound fracture of the olecranon process.
Septic arthritis followed and abscesses formed in the adjacent soft parts and the limb was amputated three weeks after the accident. The proximal fragment of the olecranon is absent. The cup of the radius and the capitulum have retained most of their cartilages of encrustation but marginally destruction and stripping from the bone are proceeding. From the semilunar notch of the ulna and the trochlear surface of the humerus all cartilages of encrustation have been removed and the surfaces are covered with fibrinopurulent exudation. The bones beyond the limits of the articular capsule are normal.
