TitleA left os innominatum, showing changes due to tuberculosis of the hip joint
DescriptionA left os innominatum (part of the bony pelvis), showing changes due to tuberculosis of the hip joint.
The acetabulum is deprived of all cartilage of encrustation. It is prolonged on to the ischium and pubis by destruction of bone, and in the neighbourhood of the joint there is a little osteophytic overgrowth at some of the ligamentous or tendinous attachments. On the pubis from the margin of the great sciatic notch towards the obturator foramen tuberculous osteitis has formed two hemispherical excavations separated from each other by only a narrow superficial strip of bone. The bone in the neighbourhood shows little affection proving that this focus has been primarily intraosteal.
