TitleLoose bodies from a knee joint
DescriptionWet specimens in Perspex case.
Loose bodies from a knee joint, removed by arthrotomy.
The loose bodies are eight in number and are all more or less globular and nodular on the surface. They appear to be composed of fibrocartilage. The largest loose body has, projecting from its centre, a strong cord of fibrous tissue 15 mm in length. The cord is doubtless the result of torsion of a pedicle. The surface of the loose body is smooth where the cord is attached and the free end of the cord is slightly expanded as if it had been recently in continuity with a cartilaginous or synovial surface.
