Deformed pelvis

Object numberGC.11195
TitleDeformed pelvis
DescriptionPelvis, An adult female, showing deformity.
The pelvis is small. The alae of the ilia form an angle at their junction with their acetabular portions and are directed anteriorly. The sacrum has followed this displacement and is angled at the junction of the third with the fourth sacral vertebra. The sacrum has an incurvation towards the right on which side the deformity is greater and the promontory of the sacrum corresponds to the right pubic ramus rather than to the symphysis. The deformity makes the iliac fossae unusually deep especially that of the right. The anteroposterior diameter of the pelvic inlet measures 45 mm. the transverse diameter 105 mm. The acetabula are expanded and shallow.
