The preparation is of a right tibia with the fibula attached, injected, and the soft parts removed to the periosteum, showing changes following acute osteomyelitis.
The fibula is normal. The diaphysis of the tibia is greatly increased in circumference and is composed of cancellous bone, which has replaced the compact bone and has formed an involucrum containing the sequestrum which is tied to the fibula and consists of the retrains of the original tibial diaphysis. The articular surfaces of the tibia are normal.
