TitleClavicle showing changes due to osteitis, probably tuberculous
DescriptionClavicle showing changes due to osteitis, probably tuberculous
The preparation is an adult left clavicle
An abscess formed over the centre of the clavicle and perforated the body of the bone.
The medial fourth of the bone is normal. In the centre of the body an oval excavation some 20 mm. in length has destroyed the superior border and the cervical more than the anterior surface. The anterior wall of the excavation is thin and fenestrated and an oval area of the subclavian border is destroyed. Around the excavation and extending to the superior surface of the acromial portion the bone is rarefied from periostea! hyperaemia. It is probable there has been a superadded septic infection.
