Object numberGC.5249
TitlePelvis, septic peristitis
DescriptionPelvis, inferior half of a right os innominatum, showing changes due to septic periostitis. From a male aged 19 years.
The bone is entirely deprived of its periosteum and on its pelvic surface the body of the ischium and to a less extent the pubis towards the symphysis are mottled with purplish streaks. The epiphysis of the ischial tuberosity and its extension along the inferior ramus of the ischium has become detached from the bone. The suppuration has penetrated the acetabulum by the acetabular notch, has denuded the acetabular fossa of its coverings and has eroded the acetabular cartilage of encrustation at the margins of the acetabular notch.
