From a male aged 67 years who fell from a cart.
Besides fracture of the mandible he sustained fracture of the nasal bones and of the left second, and the right second, third, and fourth ribs. A wound from the left angle of the mouth passed across the lower jaw. The portion of the mandibular body between the fractures being found loose and stripped of its periosteum was removed. He survived his injuries three days.
On the right side the fracture passes almost vertically through the body of the mandible at the site of the alveolus for the right lateral incisor tooth and on the left side with a posterior obliquity from posterior to the canine tooth to the inferior border of the bone.
