An injury probably applied obliquely to the right side of the nasal arch has fractured both nasal bones transversely 10 mm. from the nasion. On the right side the line of fracture is indicated by a narrow hiatus between the fragments. The free margin of the right nasal bone has been broken off and forms an irregular projection ankylosed to the margin of the frontal process of the right maxilla. On the left side the superior 15 mm of the border of the piriform aperture is rounded and thickened and appears to have been slightly displaced laterally. An oval area of the anterior wall of the left maxilla measuring 20 mm, vertically by 12 mm. horizontally has been fractured and displaced toward the left maxillary air sinus. Except inferiorly the line of fracture is indicated all round, and laterally an irregular hiatus separates the fragments. About the centre of the left palatine process an oval opening 10 mm. in anteroposterior diameter perforates the palate and is probably a result of the injury to the maxilla. There is a medal deficiency of the hard palate posteriorly which appears to be due to a congenital nonunion of the horizontal parts of the palate bones. The opening is almost circular with a diameter of 10 mm. and the clearance between the posterior nasal spines measures 3 mm. The margins of this opening are regular and smooth and there is no obliteration of the suture in the neighbourhood and as there is no evidence of disease of the bones elsewhere this opening is more likely to be of congenital origin than due to syphilis or injury. There is a slight right deviation of the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid. The left maxilla is edentulous. .
