DescriptionPelvis, showing a united fracture.
From an adult male
From the left anterior superior iliac spine a transverse groove crosses the iliac fossa to the corresponding point at the sacro-iliac joint. On the dorsal surface of the ilium the lateral third of this line corresponds to a ledge formed by slight displacement of the superior fragment of the ilium. There is an irregularity of the upper border of the superior ramus of the right os pubis and a lateral concavity of the ischium at the junction of the tuberosity with the inferior ramus. A line corresponding to that in the left iliac fossa passes from the right sacro-iliac joint to the centre of the right iliac fossa. The pelvic inlet is irregular, the left side being more capacious than the right.
A combined fracture dislocation of the pelvic ring showing a fracture dislocation involving the ileum and sacro-iliac joint with a fracture of both rand of the right pubis. Usually a fracture of the pubis is on the same side as the sacro-iliac dislocation
