DescriptionInferior half of a horizontal section of an adult left clavicle, showing an united fracture at the junction of the acromial extremity with the body.
An oblique fracture from behind forwards and laterally has separated the flattened lateral portion from the body. The lateral fragment has passed anteriorly over ridden the medial fragment and become united with it almost at right angles. The compact bone of the anterior surface of the body of the clavicle passes unaltered to the posterior border of the lateral fragment. A thin layer of compact bone closes the cancellous tissue of the body of the bone exposed by the fracture. The inferior surface shows considerable irregularity at the site of fracture.
