DescriptionFoot, The bones and ligaments of the distal half of a left leg and, with the principal tendons and the plantar aponeurosis, dried and varnished, showing a congenital deformity.
From an adult dissecting-room subject.
The foot is in the position of talipes equinovarus and rests on the lateral border and adjacent part of the dorsum. The calcaneum is tilted proximally posteriorly, and its tuberosity is malformed, flattened, and of a triangular shape. The talus is deformed so that its head is directed medially, and the tuberosity of the navicular bone is immediately distal to the apex of the medial malleolus. The other bones are less obviously affected. The toes are flexed at their proximal interphalangeal joints.
