curing Tooth Ache’
Creator Bartholemew Chevalier Ruspini
DescriptionA George III mahogany medicine chest, late 18th century, Ruspini case fitted for six articles.
The four extant bottles are original but two dentrifice containers are missing.
3 inlaid strips read:
CHEVALIER RUSPINI
Dentrifices, Tincture, Styptic Elixirs for curing Tooth Ache
This large example was marketed 'for the convenience of ladies and gentlemen living in the country or going abroad' and were sold at £3 each. The word "Chevalier" has been superimposed over an earlier inscription of "Bartholemew" making it likely that this example was made before Ruspini was created a Chevalier in 1789.
