The specimen shows the hernial sac, which is piriform in shape, some 14 cm in length, 7.5 cm in maximum diameter, and is partly constituted by the tunica vaginalis testis, at the posterior part of which lies the dried shrivelled testis. The vessels of the spermatic cord have been injected and pass on the posterior wall of the sac at some distance from the ductus deferens, which has been filled with metallic mercury. The inferior epigastric artery ascends medial to the abdominal inguinal ring.
