From a female aged 30 years, a domestic servant in a doctor’s house who, having accidentally cut her finger, applied to it a piece of lint soaked in pure carbolic acid.
The nail is purple and the finger black as far as the middle of the middle phalanx, and brown and dry as far as the proximal interphalangeal joint where a line of demarcation is beginning to form.
