DescriptionFinger, A right middle, showing a fibroma.
Amputated from an adult male Nitonga of Choma, Northern Rhodesia.
An irregularly oval tumour, 115 mm. sagittally, some 60 mm. coronally and anteroposteriorly, incorporates the volar aspect of all the phalanges of the finger which is not hypertrophied and retains a normal nail. The natural hardness of the tumour had been apparently increased by some preservative to such an extent as to limit to the periphery the portion taken for examination. Microscopic examination shows the structure of a dense, comparatively acellular fibroma, which is highly collagenous without any indication of calcification or bone.
