Theodor Billroth is regarded as the founder of modern abdominal surger and he helped to intiate the modern era of surgery - it was for the 100th year anniversary that he was put on the 1929 Austrian shilling. Anton von Eiselsberg was one of Billroth's pupils and went on to become Professor of Surgery in Vienna in 1901.
