TitleEverseal Face Mask
CreatorM.I.E.Ltd (Manufacturer)
DescriptionBlack rubber face mask with a rubber mount at top where tubing would be attached. Moulded to fit over the nose and mouth, though the shape is now slightly distorted. At the chin portion there is a label reading 'Everseal, neoprene coated, Anti Static, MIE LTD, Regd Des, Made in England'. At the nose portion is a stamped number 3.
The MIE everseal mask is particularly interesting as it had an innovative design that provided a significantly better airtight seal than its predecessors. It was designed by MIE Ltd in 1953 from an oxygen facemask developed by the Royal Aircraft Establishment for the first successful British Everest expedition.
