DescriptionEpididymis and testis, half of a vertical section of, with a portion of the spermatic cord, showing tuberculous epididymitis.
From a male aet 17 years the subject of pulmonary tuberculosis who died of tuberculous meningitis.
The whole organ is increased in size by enlargement of the epididymis posteriorly and by the presence of a hydrocele anteriorly. Large caseous areas are seen in the tail, body and head of the epididymis. The tunica vaginalis is somewhat thickened and an adhesion between it and the anterior surface of the testis forms a band of adhesion some 10 mm. in width, and one or two filamentous adhesions connect the visceral with the parietal surface superiorly. The ductus deferens is thick and its lumen plugged with caseous tuberculous material. Microscopically the extensively tuberculous affection is confirmed.
