DescriptionProstate with, portion of the bladder laid open anteriorly, showing prostatic enlargement.
From a male aet 70 years in whom attempts at catheterization had produced a false passage through the prostatic urethra
The prostate has apparently presented some uniform enlargement posteriorly but the main increase is a pear-shaped mass projecting from the prostatic urethra into the bladder involving the posterior portion of the internal urethral orifice. A section has been removed from this projection and shows it to be firm and almost homogeneous and microscopically it is composed almost wholly of fibrous tissue with an occasional, narrow, elongated acinus, a fibromyoma in which the fibrous element predominates
