TitleProstate showing enlargement
DescriptionProstatic enlargement.
The specimen is the right half of a parasagittal section of the pubis, adjacent anterior abdominal wall and a portion of the bladder
The prostate is uniformly and considerably enlarged, and seems unusually long. A suprapubic cystostomy has been performed and the openings are indicated by a portion of a silk catheter. Around the internal urethral orifice and the vesical projections of the prostate some eighteen vesical calculi have accumulated. The wall of the bladder is thickened and the right ureter somewhat dilated. The naked-eye characters of the prostatic enlargement are those of a fibromyoma. The right vesicula seminalis with its ductus deferens and a portion of the rectal mucosa are shown posteriorly.
