Tibia - undifferentiated round cell sarcoma

Object numberGCX.171
TitleTibia - undifferentiated round cell sarcoma
DescriptionMale age 48 years. This man presented with a three months' history of pain in the region of his right tibia which developed after a minor injury. His leg had become swollen. Biopsy revealed round cell sarcoma of bone, probably a primary tumour. Radiotherapy was given but without response.
X-ray shows a lytic lesion involving the upper third of the tibia with slight expansion of the bone. The margins of the defect are clearly defined. The diagnosis here would be impossible without biopsy.
