DescriptionTwo mounted photographs with two photomicrographs below, showing a case of fibroadenoma intracanaliculare, or 'Brodie's Tumour'.
From a unipara aged 51 years who had noted enlargement of the breast during eight months. Recently the tumour had increased in size rapidly and led to ulceration of the skin. The tumour was of a large size, and weighed 5.5kgs. It is solid and of a gelatinous consistency. Superficially it has undergone extensive necrosis. The overlaying skin presents two large apertures through whcih necrotic debris has been extruded. Microscopically the tumour is a fibroadenoma, much more firbromatous that adematous. Mucoid degeneration is marked. Many of the cells are hyperchromatic and hypertrophied, but mitosis is inconspicuois.
