Of a male aged 48 years who had dysphagia during the 9 months, and laterally hoarseness from paralysis of the right vocal fold. He was much emaciated, and death was due to acute bronchitis. The carcinoma has originated in the oesophagus just proximal to the aortic arch; thence to the esophageal entrance the wall is thickened by carcinomatous infiltration, and ulcerated, and the lumen is diminished. The lung is becoming involved by contact, and there are numerous enlarged cervical and mediastinal lymph nodes.
