DescriptionWatercolour drawing of a right leg and foot showing gangrene. Of male aged 23 years in whom anterior dislocation of the tibia had caused a complete rupture of the popliteal artery. The foot and leg present much blotchy discoloration, and elsewhere the limb is white and anaemic.
The pencil sketch is of the popliteal area and shows compression of the popliteal vessels in the intercondylic notch against the lateral surface of the medial condyle of the displaced femur as well as the ruptured popliteal artery drawn from underneath the popliteal vein and supported by a pin.
